Hooper to Make Dr Ranson Statement
Previous attempts have been wrapped up in what was and wasn’t sub judice
Tynwald members will soon finally be free to talk openly about the Dr Ranson case.
It was announced today that Dr Ranson will received compensation of just under £3.2m for her unfair dismissal and treatment by the DHSC.
While previous attempts for Tynwald members to debate the matter have been tied up by the issue of what was and wasn’t sub judice, the gov has now confirmed that a statement will be made to Tynwald, though we don’t yet know when.
A gov spokesperson told Gef: ‘The Department of Health and Social Care has received the detailed decision of the Employment and Equality Tribunal. Once the case is closed, the Minister intends to make a statement to Tynwald.’
Mr Hooper was not the minister when the case between Dr Ranson and the DHSC began, in fact he was a member of the Public Accounts Committee which interviewed her in 2021.
Manx Care declined an invitation to comment on the ruling against the DHSC.
