Key Figures From This Year’s Budget

Government revenue spending for 2021/22 is budgeted at £1.161 billion, representing £13,740 for every person on the Island – an increase of 3.3%.

Some of the highlights of this year’s Budget include:

• No increase in income tax or National Insurance

• Personal tax allowance up to £14,250 (up £3,750 since 2016)

• Gov investments almost recovered to same level as March 2020 (with £1.6bn)

• £15.4m approved bid for DHSC, includes money for Manx Care with savings target of £2.7m built into budget

• £2.25m funding for climate change adaptation

• £4.9m approved bid for DoI

• £379,000 approved bid for Dept of Home Affairs

• Five year capital programme totalling £448m

• Capital programme of £182m for 2021-22, with £82.1m expected to be delivered

• Dept income targets raised generally by 2%

• Employee budget increase of 1% in line with inflation

Benefits and Pensions:

Both are up this year, with pensioners the best off with above inflation increases:

• Basic state pension up 2.5%

• Manx state pensions up 2.5%

• Nursing care contribution up 15.6%

• Incapacity benefit up 0.5%

• Bereavement support up 0.5%

• Carers allowance up 0.5%

• Jobseekers allowance up 0.5%
