Nurses to March for Pay
While nurses have voted to strike, the march itself is not a strike and those scheduled to work will do so
Nurses on the island will march past Tynwald next week, as they seek to reach a deal over fair pay.
The march will take place from Nobles Hospital and makes it way to Villiers Square, via the Tynwald building where a small number of RCN officials and members will remain to observe the Tynwald session.
The protest will then continue on for further demonstration in Villiers Square. The protest has been called in response to RCN members’ recent rejection of the pay offer proposed by Manx Care and the recent strike action postal ballot, in which over 70% of participants voted in favour of taking strike action.
While nurses have voted to strike, the march is not a strike and any nurses scheduled to work will do so.
Starting at Noble’s, the nurses will go along Peel Road, up on to Circular Road, turn right on to Prospect Hill, there will be a brief stop at the Tynwald building before protestors move on to Villiers Square.
