You Can’t Cycle on Pavements

DoI Minister Tim Crookall has said that ‘cyclists are not permitted on pavements except those that are cycleways, shared spaces or prescribed pavements’.

Mr Crookall was responding to a question from Speaker Juan Watterson who asked if whether speed limits apply to cyclists on pavements and shared spaces.

‘Speed limits in general do not apply to cyclists as they are not classed as motor vehicles; however, cyclists travelling at excessive speeds may be found guilty of other offences such as “dangerous cycling” or ‘careless and inconsiderate cycling”,’ The Minister added.
