You Pray If You Want To
Members backed an amendment from Douglas South MHK Sarah Maltby.
MHKs have agreed that members should be allowed to choose whether to participate in prayers or not.
Members rejected a motion from the House of Keys Management and Members’ Standards Committee that prayers should be axed in favour of an address which would be known as House of Keys Smooinaghtyn.
The debate, despite its length, was one which proved ultimately quite simple. Some members want prayers, some don’t and they should be allowed to choose whether to be in the Chamber for them or not.
While the original motion was rejected, members did back the below amendment from Douglas South MHK Sarah Maltby.
