Billy’s Back

He’s the Isle of Man lad who had us all glued to the telly during Wimbledon, and now he’s back home, signing tennis balls and chatting with the next generation at Albany and Castletown.

After smashing his way to a Grand Slam singles win and pulling off a cheeky doubles victory alongside Marcus Willis, Billy Harris is taking the positives, soaking up the sunshine and already eyeing up Wimbledon 2026.

We caught up with him at the NSC, where he spoke about what it’s like to play in front of friends, family and a fair few Manxies in the crowd:

‘Wimbledon was good – made it to the second round in singles and doubles, which was one step further than last year. Take the positives and hopefully go again next year.’

Laid-back doesn’t even cover it, you’d think he’d just won a Tuesday night Combi match at Ballafletcher, not a Wimbledon match.

Now back on the island, he’s been hitting with young players and signing autographs like a proper legend.

‘It’s great to see the kids buzzing to play. Hopefully inspiring a few to keep going – there’s some really good juniors coming through.’

He even got lifetime membership to Castletown Tennis Club, not bad for a lad who once played tiebreaks on those very courts.

Wimbledon may be over for him this year, but don’t bet against Billy being back on the grass again next summer, and maybe even turning a few more heads.
