Comis Goes Cue Crazy for IPA Grand Finals

It’s game on at the Comis Hotel this week as the International Pool Association (IPA) Grand Finals is underway, the final stop of the 2025 tour and a huge date in the cue sports calendar.2

Now in its eighth year visiting the island, the event has brought hundreds of players and fans from across the British Isles for a long weekend of world-class pool, pint-pouring and friendly competition.

The action officially kicked off on Wednesday with a flyer round, before the main Grand Finals cue off on Friday (November 14).

Across the weekend, six major competitions will take place, including the Ladies Amateur, Open, Ladies Open, Amateur, Ladies Elite, and Professional events.

Flying the Manx flag in the professional draw is the island’s very own David Addinall, the Isle of Man’s only professional pool player, and one of the main reasons the IPA first brought the tournament here.

IPA secretary and tournament director Bronwen Ward, from Swansea, said: ‘This is the Grand Finals, so it’s the end of our season in terms of the tour events that we hold.

‘All players can play the Grand Finals, and this is our first time at the Comis, which is a pleasant change for us, it’s lovely.’

More than 200 players and supporters have travelled for the tournament, with around 25 Manx players also entering the main events.

‘We also hold more casual events over Wednesday and Thursday to encourage people who don’t normally play with professionals to come and have that experience with us,’ Bronwen added.

A charity event, Lola’s Pool Party, will take place on Thursday night (TONIGHT), run by pro player Mark Boyle in memory of his late wife and raising funds for Strathcarron Hospice.

Bronwen’s message to locals? Simple: ‘Just come along and enjoy. It’s a fantastic weekend of pool.’
