Dan’s Marathon Year

Ramsey man Dan Richmond is taking on four massive challenges to raise money for Rebecca House this year, events that will take him from Santon to South Shields and Onchan to Oslo.
His is one of several events being supported or organised by members of Quay Fitness Gym as it seeks to raise money for the children’s hospice.
Forced to quit rugby due to an injury, Dan has entered the Manx Mountain Marathon on March 30, the Parish Walk on June 22/23, the Great North Run on September 8 and the Oslo Marathon on September 21.

He said: ‘With the shit news that I had to step back from playing Rugby following the metal plate being put in to replace a section of my eye socket at the end of 2023, I knew I’d have to pick something else up and do something a little bit mental in 2024.
‘Impulsively, I decided to enter my first competitive half marathon, marathon, and ultra marathon all in the same year, and have another shot at finishing the Parish Walk for a second consecutive year.’
