Darryl and Dollin to Take on the World
The competition is being held in Qatar this November
Reigning island snooker champion Darryl Hill will be representing the island at the IBSF World Amateur Championships 2023 in Qatar this November.
Darryl will be joined by Dollin Mercer, who was picked from the current ranking list.
Darryl and Dollin have been chosen by the Isle of Man Billiards and Snooker Association to compete in the individual Men’s Snooker Championship event from November 5 to 10, plus the Men’s Team Championship which runs until November 12.
The whole event is being staged in the Qatari capital’s La Maison Hotel and also includes Billiards, Women’s, Masters and 6Reds competitions.
Darryl, is a former European Under-21 champion, former pro player and now runs The Cue Zone at Ronaldsway Business Park.
Dollin, a former Manx Radio reporter, works behind the bar in the Manx Arms on Mondays (Hi Dollin!). He is also a decent player in his own right and was also part of the team that beat Scotland.
The Association said: ‘Our duo were instrumental in the Island team’s 7-5 victory over Scotland at this year’s HIBSF Home Internationals competition, and have experience of playing together too as former league teammates and previous winners of the Island Pairs Championship together.
