Player of the Month

Malew AFC’s Rebecca Cregeen and Ruby Palmer from Onchan A.F.C‘s received their November Canada Life Player of the Month awards last week.

Rebecca’s solid performances impressed opposition teams in their Canada Life Floodlit Cup fixtures throughout the month, and she scored a brace of goals versus Onchan in Malew’s two nil victory on November 19.

Onchan’s Ruby Palmer was voted the best under 21 player. Her two goals versus Douglas Royal earned her side a 2-1 win in the Canada Life Floodlit Cup, then she hit a hat-trick in The O’s 11-0 win over Castletown at the end of the month.

The Isle of Man Post Office has announced the release of ‘Marine Mosaics’ by acclaimed artist Kimmy McHarrie. This captivating stamp collection offers a breath-taking glimpse into the mesmerizing world of marine life, beautifully depicted through the art of mosaic.

Kimmy McHarrie, a native of Castletown, Isle of Man, has dedicated her life to capturing the essence of nature through her intricate artwork. Inspired by her deep-rooted connection to the sea and fuelled by a passion for conservation, Kimmy’s creations serve as a poignant reminder of the fragile beauty that surrounds us.

The collection features six stamps, each showcasing a unique selection of fish species native to the waters of the Isle of Man. From the humble Herring, affectionately known as Skeddan in Manx, to the majestic Braddan – Salmon, Kimmy’s mosaics pay homage to the rich maritime heritage of the island.

The £1.28 stamp featuring the Boiddagh (Cod) has been chosen as the EUROPA stamp for 2024, representing the theme for this year of “Underwater Fauna & Flora”. Bearing the official EUROPA logo, it will join other stamps from postal administrations across Europe following the same theme.

‘In creating ‘Marine Mosaics,’ I wanted to celebrate the rich diversity of marine life found in the waters of the Isle of Man,’ said Kimmy McHarrie.

‘Each mosaic tells a story of resilience and beauty, highlighting the importance of protecting our oceans for future generations.’
