Debut Cap for Hassall in IOM Cricket Series v Guernsey

The Isle of Man has opened their 2024 season with a three-game series against Guernsey at Sparsholt CC.

Game 1 – IoM 98 all out

Dani Murphy top scored for the IoM with some excellent shots dancing down the wicket 27 from 15 balls well supported by Rachel Overman 20 and Caitlin Henery 17.

Guernsey 99-7 (19.3 overs)

The Guernsey innings ebbed and flowed with both sides battling hard to win the game. Lucy Barnett 3-11, Jo Hicks 1-14 and Catherine Perry 1-25 bowled excellent spells to restrict Guernsey with Dani and Lucy also with two fantastic run outs. Guernsey continued to stay in the game and knocked it off with three balls remaining.

Game 2 – IoM 64 all out

Tight bowling and excellent fielding in the second game made it difficult for the IoM batters with Andrea Littlejohns and Rachel top scoring with 12. A brilliant catch on the boundary by Rebecca Hubbard finished the innings off.

Guernsey 65-5 (12.5 overs)

A fantastic effort by the players made Guernsey work hard for every run with Lucy 2-11, Jo 1-16 and Dani 1-12 but it just wasn’t enough runs.

Congratulations to Sam Hassall for making her T20 international debut.

Guernsey Series, Sparsholt CC – Day Two

Guernsey 127-5

A fantastic spell and first international wickets for Caitlin Henery 3-25 and 1-22 from Catherine Perry restricted Guernsey to 127. Rachel Overman picked up another two catches fielding in close and Bekkie Webster who kept brilliantly over the three games took a fantastic catch and a smart stumping.

IoM 52-4 (lost by 15 runs DLS)

At 22-4 the IoM were on the back foot but a well-made 20 not out from Bekkie brought the IoM back into the game. Unfortunately, the rain came and continued to get heavier with the umpires eventually bringing the players off and the game was abandoned.

The players finished on a high though, getting the opportunity to take part in a question-and-answer-session with Southern Vipers Georgia Adams, Charli Knott and James Hibberd.
