Medals for IOM Special Olympics Team in NW Regional Swimming Gala

Six local swimmers have returned with medals in-hand after a successful trip to compete in the North West Regional Swimming Gala.

The competition took place in Liverpool, where the Manx team faced up against more than 200 swimmers from around the country.

There were not one but two bronzes for Angela in the Breast stroke. One in the 50m event, where she also knocked a whole 3 seconds off her entered time. The second was in the last event of the day. Finishing on a high, she took third in the 25m. She also came 5th in the 25m Freestyle.

Dawn swam herself into 8th place in the 25m Freestyle and 5th in the 50m Freestyle.

Thomas scored himself two medals; a silver in the 25m Freestyle and in event 33 heat where Thomas got the Island’s first Gold medal of the day, smashing his personal best in the process and taking more than 9 seconds off his entered time.

Gold fever was in the camp after that with the relay team made up of Katie, Angela, Natasha and Thomas taking gold.

Katie and Natasha raced again in the same 50m freestyle heat Natasha finished 4th and Katie 8th.
