Organisers of the Ulster Grand Prix say insurance issues and a lack of time to find a solution have ended hopes of it returning this year.
The Dundrod course still retains its title of the world’s fastest road race, with Peter Hickman lapping the 7.4-mile course at 136.415mph in 2019, compared to his 136.358mph lap at last year’s TT.
Despite once being a crown jewel in the road racing world, financial problems hit organisers and, combined with the impact of Covid, it has not run since 2019.
The BBC has reported that the ‘Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club [DDMC] “remains committed” to reviving the road race’.
It added: ‘The event was handed a lifeline when the Revival Racing Club stepped in to attempt to run the race for its centenary year in 2022 but it could not secure backing, and now the latest attempt under the DDMC has not come to fruition.’
The North West 200 is however due to return this year, after a successful run in 2023, with the event due to be held between May 6 and May 11.
This year’s TT gets underway on Monday May 27, running through to Senior Race Day on Saturday June 8.
