In what is their final game of 2022, FC Isle of Man head to Oldham tonight in the NWCFL Premier Division to face Avro FC.
Paul Jones’ men will be looking to end their year on a high, after what has to be said to be have been a challenging step up since their promotion last season.
The teams last met in last season’s FA Vase qualifying round, when goals from Jack McVey, Dan Simpson and the hopefully soon retuning Sean Doyle were enough for a Ravens win.
In naming his squad for the flight over, Paul Jones has gone for what has become a typical blend of youth and experience, including a fairly settled defence, with Morgan Naylor the only change at the back, with James Rice keeping his place between the sticks.
In midfield, Blake Henwood and Jay Skelcher-Maxwell are available, while the Duracell Bunny that is Tom Creer and cult hero Furo Davies provide the options up top with captain Ste Whitley and Charley Higgins looking likely to be the men out wide.
The Ravens played well against AFC Liverpool last time out, with a lack of cutting edge really being all that was missing in a 0-2 loss where they dominated much of the game.
But if there is one thing that game did prove, it is that FC Isle of Man can hang with the sides at the top of the league and with Avro sitting in third, winning five of their last six, they will need some big performances across the team if they are to come home with some points.
The game kicks off at 7.45pm and we’ll be providing updates before the game, at HT and FT, but for the most up to date info, check out the Ravens’ twitter account.
