RECAP: All The Winners At The Isle of Man Sports Awards

Sir Mark Cavendish has officially added even more silverware to his overflowing trophy cabinet, bagging a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Isle of Man Sports Awards.

Oh, and because he wasn’t quite done winning, he also scooped Sportsman of the Year 2024—just to remind us all that he is, indeed, him.

The Manx Missile—arguably the most famous bloke to ever pedal his way off the rock—wrapped up his glittering career last year, leaving behind a frankly obscene 165 professional wins, including his historic 35 Tour de France stage victories.

And because he doesn’t do things by halves, his final-ever race in Singapore? Yeah, he only went and won that too.

Fans packed into the Villa Marina to see Sir Cav accept his awards, where it was confirmed that the raceway at the National Sports Centre—the very spot where a young Mark first fell in love with cycling—is set to be renamed in his honour.

Speaking on the night, Cav said: ‘It’s such an amazing feeling – it is very, very special to receive these awards.

‘I am so grateful and really excited to see the plans for the NSC, which is a very special place for me.’

But he wasn’t the only Manx sporting hero getting a well-earned round of applause…

• Yasmin Ingham was crowned Sportswoman of the Year after a massive 2024, where she finished the year as the world’s No.4 eventer and travelled to the Paris Olympics as a reserve.
• Billy Harris was named Isle of Man Ambassador of the Year after smashing his way into the top 100 of men’s tennis and making the main draw at Wimbledon. He even represented GB in the Davis Cup, becoming the first Manx player to do so.
• Ryan & Callum Crowe took home Team of the Year after a brilliant year on two wheels in the world of motorcycling.
• And Evie Roberts was crowned Disability Sportsperson of the Year for her success in equestrian sports.

Honouring the island’s sporting talent, Andy Varnom, Chair of Isle of Man Sport, said: ‘The Isle of Man continues to punch above its weight in the sporting arena. How remarkable to have Tour de France winners, Olympians and Grand Slam tennis players take to the stage and fly our flag proudly on the world stage.’
