The other two people involved in the fatal crash at this year’s Southern 100 have been transferred to the UK for further treatment.

Rider Alan Connor and marshal Liam Clarke died in the crash on the final lap of the Tuesday 1100cc evening practice session.

Another two people were injured in the incident, a rider and a spectator.

Organisers Southern 100 Racing said: ‘The rider involved in Tuesday evenings serious incident has ankle injuries and has been transferred to hospital near his home, whilst the spectator who was indirectly involved in the Tuesday incident received knee and leg injuries and likewise is receiving treatment in a UK hospital.

‘The promoters wish them a full and speedy recovery. Southern 100 Racing would like once again to thank all the medics, marshals, officials, and members of the public who assisted during the aftermath of the serious incident on Tuesday evening, which resulted in the meeting being cancelled.’

Meanwhile, a further update has been given as to the condition of the other riders to injured in this year’s event.

The Club added: ‘There were two incidents on Monday evening, David McConnachy has hip and leg injuries and has been discharged from Nobles Hospital. Joshua Potts received tibia and fibular injuries and has also been discharged.’
