Weekend Sports Preview
Have a great weekend guys.
There’s silverware up for grabs at the Bowl on Sunday afternoon as Peel and Corinthians lock horns in women’s football’s Floodlit Cup.
The first major final of the senior season, which kicks off at 2.45pm, is one of the highlights of another busy weekend of Manx sport.
On Saturday, the second round of the Callin Wild Manx Fell League takes place.
The challenging Ardwhallen race will be run over a 12.6km course based at the Outdoor Pursuit Centre in West Baldwin.
Registration and kit check will be held from 12.15 to 1.15pm with the race due to start at 1.30pm.
There will also be a short course race, encompassing the opening round of the Junior Fell League, which will start shortly after the main race.
Also on Saturday, the rugby, hockey and football seasons continue.
In the former Douglas travel to Birkenhead Park, while Vagabonds are also off island in Counties Three ADM Lancashire/Cheshire, taking on Thornton Cleveleys.
Locally there is only one game taking place. That’s at Port Erin where Southern Nomads Whites face Ramsey Blues and Western Vikings in the Ravenscroft Manx Trophy.
There’s plenty of hockey on offer with games in the men’s and women’s leagues across the island. Similarly, there’s action in all four men’s football leagues, while FC Isle of Man host Squires Gate at the Bowl in the evening, where a certain Sean Doyle is due to return.
The senior netball leagues return after a week off on Sunday. Again there’s games in all four senior leagues with matches at the NSC and Bemahague.
