Game 2 of the ICC T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier versus Turkey at Simar Cricket Ground. A great result for the Isle of Man beating Turkey by 81 runs.
The IoM innings got off to a shaky start with wickets off the first two balls. However, George Burrows (52 from 43 balls) formed partnerships with Ollie Webster (48 from 27 balls) who batted very positively and Harry McAleer (23 from 20 balls) to move the IoM onto a good total. Luke Ward had a fantastic cameo of 18 from 11 balls at the end to push the team onto 182.
The Turkey opening batters started aggressively in the power play scoring 40 off the first 5 overs. A double wicket maiden from Joe Burrows in over 5 and Matt Ansell 1-12 really pulled the innings back in the IoM’s favor. Joe Burrows finished with an excellent 3-10, with Kieran Cawte, George Burrows and Ollie Webster the other wicket takers.
The Isle of Man’s next game is versus Italy on Wednesday 12th June at Roma Cricket Ground at 9:15am.
