Windsor Welcomes Watty
Manx sporting royalty met another form of royalty today as John ‘Watty’ Watterson MBE headed to Windsor Castle to officially receive his honour from Prince William.
Watty, who has spent more than five decades reporting on basically every sport under the sun, and being an all-round Isle of Man icon, was nominated earlier this year for his huge contribution to Manx sport and community life.
The honour was made official at Windsor, where he got the full handshake-and-medal treatment from the Prince of Wales himself.
No word yet on whether Wills asked him for his predictions for the next Manx trials, but we assume he did.
Watty said he was ‘delighted and honoured, and his wife Lottie described it as a ‘magical ceremony’
A massive congrats to one of the true greats of Manx sport. We’re all very proud at Media Isle of Man.
You can read more about Watty in next week’s Examiner.
