Women’s Side Ready for Accrington
Isle of Man Women’s captain Becky Corkish has said the team is ‘really excited’ to be heading to Accrington Stanley Ladies this weekend.
Wayne Lisy’s side play Accrington on Sunday as a warm up game ahead of this summer’s Isle Games.
The fixture was arranged after goalkeeper Blae Cain, who is currently at University in the UK, signed for Accrington Stanley Women.
In a video, Becky said: ‘Hi Accrington Stanley ladies, thank you very much for inviting us over, we’re really excited to come and play you in preparation for the Island Games. We’re sure it’ll be a fantastic game and it will be an amazing experience and opportunity to play at the Wham Stadium.’
The match, which kicks off at 3 pm, will follow a pitchside parade celebrating the success of women’s football in the local area, including the 180 players who currently play for Accrington Stanley Women at various age levels.
