DoI Unveils New Crossing
Admitted we have shared this entirely because we find the idea of a horse crossing amusing.
A new road crossing at the Glen Darragh junction of the Heritage Trail is now in operation and it includes a special horse crossing.
The DoI determined that part as part of the overall Heritage Trail upgrade scheme, a controlled junction was necessary at this point due to the restricted view of the junction approaching the crossing from Peel Road.
In additional to the usual request buttons for pedestrians and cyclists, the crossing features additional request buttons set at a height suitable for horse riders so they don’t have to dismount. The equestrian buttons are set back from the junction slightly to facilitate the needs of horse riders while they wait to cross.
