Fury as Steam Packet Sell Tickets!
The Steam Racket, as your dad calls it while chuckling to himself, has announced an around the island cruise on September 17.
After weeks of being beside themselves with anger over not being allowed to go onboard the new Manxman, islanders have reacted with fury that the Steam Packet has the temerity to sell tickets.
The Steam Racket, as your dad calls it while chuckling to himself, has announced an around the island cruise on September 17, at 10am.
While the announcement was met with surprise by some who had apparently never heard of the Manxman, but complained about the firework display anyway, it has been met with outright fury by others, mostly people who fail to understand how a business operates.
Several members of the company’s 85,000 strong management committee said that since the gov has paid for the boat, we should all get a free go.
This is despite the Steam Packet (which yes is owned by the taxpayer, but run as its own concern) being wholly responsible for the cost of Manxman. Not to mention the general insanity of her just sailing round and round and round the island until everyone who wants a look has been aboard.
Other such insightful comments have come from people who claim not to have sailed in over 25 years as the planes are more efficient and convenient…
Despite this justified anger about such insanity, some islanders, bizarrely, like the idea of sailing around our beautiful island’s coastline onboard the most comfortable and nicest boat they’re likely to see in Manx waters without the need to actually book a cruise.
If you are driven by such like minded craziness, you can enter the ballot for tickets, limited to four a person, by clicking on the link here.
And if you are unlucky enough to be made to pay £35 for something you have chosen to go on, you’ll be even more incensed to know it is bring your own booze!
- For those at the back, yes we’re joking…..
