The Steam Packet’s new flagship the Manxman has docked in Douglas Harbour for the first time.

The new £78million vessel was tied up alongside Edward VIII Pier around 9am, completing a journey of more than 12,000 nautical miles through eight different seas in three different oceans from South Korea where it was constructed.

Manxman was guided into the harbour by Captain Stephen Carter, his last act before retiring as the harbour’s pilot.

The vessel was met by a flotilla of small boats, while throngs of people lined Douglas Promenade and Douglas Head to get a skeet at the Packet’s latest addition.
