The Steam Packet’s new vessel Manxman has been out for her initial sea trials this last weekend, as the ship moves closer to entering into service.

Having been built in South Korea, at a cost of £78m, Manxman is due to enter service next year in time for TT.

The company said: ‘On Saturday December 10, Manxman completed initial sea trials to test a number of important systems including propulsion equipment, controls, mooring, navigation, radio and anchors.

‘Further trials to test speed, stabilisers and sound and vibration levels will be carried out closer to the vessel’s completion.’

Current Steam Packet timetables show the Manxman will enter service on May 23, with the 2.15am sailing from Heysham, arriving in Douglas for 6.15am.
