Island Gears Up For Bumper Cruise Year

The Isle of Man is gearing up for another busy cruise season after a record-breaking year that saw thousands of visitors arrive on its shores.

Figures show 26,357 cruise passengers visited the island in 2025, the highest number on record, bringing in an estimated £2.3 million for the local economy.

Now, 45 cruise ship visits are already lined up for 2026, including seven first-time arrivals.

The season will also mark a major milestone, with the island welcoming its 500th cruise ship.

Bosses say the steady rise in cruise tourism is giving a boost to local businesses while helping showcase the island’s scenery, heritage and attractions to a wider audience.

Deborah Heather, chief executive of Visit Isle of Man, said: ‘It’s encouraging to see continued confidence from cruise operators as we prepare for the 2026 season.

‘A strong programme of visits reflects the island’s growing reputation as a desirable destination.’

She added that the experience visitors receive on arrival plays a key role, with businesses, guides and volunteers all helping to leave a lasting impression.

Tourism politician Sarah Maltby said last year’s figures provide ‘a strong platform’ to build on.
