Manxman Aborts Entry into Heysham
Repairs will be made but the service shouldn’t be affected.
The Steam Packet confirmed that a warning relating to the Manxman’s bow thrusters halted her entry into Heysham earlier today.
After the fault was identified, the ship did make her way into the harbour and passengers were able to get off.
A company spokesperson said that service engineers ‘have been made aware of the situation and will attend the vessel to make a permanent repair’.
However, the company said that ‘Manxman’s operations should not be impacted further’.
The spokesperson also said it supported the captain’s decision to ’employ maximum caution today’.
Manxman was only delayed by about 25 minutes going into Heysham. However, her return sailing was delayed and she is now not due back in Douglas until 7pm.
