Official: Road is Busiest During Morning Commute

The DoI has been monitoring traffic levels

With work on the Richmond progressing well, the DoI has revealed some astounding information.

The road is due to be closed for several weeks with motorists diverted down the Energy from Waste Access Road.

Since work began, the DoI has been monitoring traffic levels and the results are, well exactly as you’d expect, it’s busy in the mornings.

The DoI said: ‘As anticipated traffic coming into Douglas from the south is heaviest during the morning commuter run from about 8 to 9am. We would advise motorists coming into Douglas to allow a little extra time for their journey during that time. Traffic travelling south between 8am and 9am is free flowing.’

Some good news for bus passengers though, outside of the morning rush hour, the time it takes buses to transit Richmond Hill to Spring Valley and vice versa is pretty much the same as to before traffic was diverted.

The DoI said: ‘The bus travel times show that general traffic flow is good We would encourage motorists to continue to use this route in preference to other alternative routes.’

Sleep well Isle of Man, all is safe.
