Packet to Investigate Bike Pic

The Steam Packet is investigate the circumstances around a picture circulating online which appeared to show three bikes that fell over during a sailing on the Manxman.

In a widely shared picture, three bikes, apparently travelling on the Manxman can be seen on their sides.

The picture has led to criticism of how the Steam Packet transports bikes, as they appear to be secured only using rope, which members of an TT Isle of Man Facebook page, as well as the beloved News and Politics page, said was not common on other ferry operators. They also called for the Steam Packet to improve how bikes are secured on their vessels.

A Steam Packet spokesperson told Gef: ‘‘Vehicles are lashed in accordance with our cargo handling procedures on all our vessels. As with all such instances, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company will investigate the circumstances surrounding this and liaise with customers affected.’
