Runways Closed by Light Aircraft Issue

The small plane had lost its steering

An issue with a small plane led to a closure of both of Ronaldsway’s runways.

A post on Facebook said: ‘The airport is currently experiencing an emergency issue due to a light aircraft having lost steering resulting in it being disabled on the runway. This means both runways are closed currently.

‘The team are working hard to move the aircraft and hope to have the situation resolved soon. Please keep up to date with your flights through either your airlines website or the airport’s website.’

Update:

Loganair says the runway is now open and all of its flights, with the exception of the Edinburgh flight which turned back when the runway closed, will go ahead.

It said: ‘We expect to run all remaining services on Sunday September 3 albeit with some delays inevitable due to the knock-on effects of the earlier runway closure.’
