Kendal Town’s chairman has said some of the club and its fans could be here for most of the week after their flight was cancelled on Sunday.
Town chairman Michael O’Neil and fan Phil Walker appeared on BBC Breakfast to discuss being stuck on the island after Storm Isha.
Having said they had ‘made the best of it’, namely watching the Liverpool game in Jaks on Sunday afternoon, the pair said that they weren’t sure when everyone would be getting home.
Michael said: ‘Unfortunately easyJet hasn’t secured us any travel yet, they’re saying Thursday at best, which is really unfortunate because we’re all volunteers and people have got commitments.
‘I’ve got my two young children here with me, who are distraught to be missing school, but more importantly, we’ve got fans out here that have got disabilities and are on medication and some people are on a really strict budget and this is all coming at our expense and easyJet aren’t covering anything at the moment.’
Phil said he has booked on a flight this afternoon, with tonight’s Heysham sailing as a backup.
Michael added that the club was meeting today to discuss how it can support the 250 odd people who are still stuck here.
