The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow from 5pm today (Tuesday) until 7am tomorrow, with higher ground between 700 and 1,200 feet expected to see a dusting before it turns to rain overnight.

Accumulations are expected to be slight, so it’s more about slippery roads than a ski slope.

Meanwhile, an amber warning is currently in place for coastal overtopping, with strong easterly winds and a big tide pushing waves onto a few shorelines.

Debris is expected to be brought ashore, and the DoI has confirmed sandbags are being deployed to help protect properties.

There’s also a yellow warning for tidal flooding in Ramsey, with forecaster Colin Gartshore saying high tide could cause minor flooding at a few low-lying spots, including Riverside Industrial Estate and Gardener’s Lane, but only for a short time.

If you’re planning a hill walk or a coastal stroll, now might be the time to check the forecast, wrap up warm, and maybe keep a sandbag handy, just in case.
