Snow Way! Wintry Showers To Hit Island This Weekend

Grab your big coat and maybe some sledges because snow could be on the cards this Sunday as the Isle of Man braces for a proper wintery weekend.

The temperatures have already plummeted this week, with Thursday barely scraping 5°C and triggering two yellow weather warnings for ice and snow.

The Met Office reckons we could be in for some travel chaos if conditions worsen, so maybe double-check those bus timetables – or just stay put with a brew.

Here’s the lowdown:

• Friday: Chilly but survivable at 7°C.
• Saturday: A brisk 6°C, perfect for complaining about the cold.
• Sunday: The big freeze hits, with highs of just 3°C and the potential for ‘significant snow’, especially on higher ground.

The Met Office in Ronaldsway has warned of snow ‘drifting’ at higher altitudes, with a mix of sleet or rain likely lower down.

So, unless you live halfway up Snaefell, it could just be slush.

Their official word: ‘There will be ice and snow with significant accumulations most likely on high ground.

‘The snow level remains uncertain but rain or sleet is probable on low ground—although this may change.’

Monday looks slightly less dramatic, with a few wintry showers and highs of 5°C.

Over in the UK, Scotland’s already been hit with snow warnings, and large parts of England are bracing for a frosty weekend too.

So the first weekend of 2025 could be a good time to get the fire roaring and watch Eastenders! (No spoilers – Gef hasn’t watched the New Year’s Day special yet!)
