Weather Warning x2!

If you thought one yellow weather warning this week was enough, think again.

The Met Office has decided to double down and chuck us another one, this time for coastal overtopping.

The first warning, which covered inner harbour flooding in Douglas, Castletown and Ramsey thanks to some very high tides, has been in place since just after midnight and runs until 3am Wednesday. That one’s still ticking away in the background.

But as of midday today (Tuesday), warning number two has joined the party.

This fresh yellow heads-up runs right through until 3pm tomorrow, with Douglas Promenade, Laxey and the southern end of Shore Road in Rushen all on the hit list for waves, water and the odd bit of debris.

High tide at lunchtime (1.09pm Tuesday) has already had its go, but the overnight 1.30am splash-a-thon is still to come, followed by another round about 1.45pm Wednesday afternoon.

The Met Office says the winds, southeast today and southerly tomorrow, will give the sea that little extra shove, just enough to slop over onto the roads, promenades and anywhere else it fancies.

And while the warnings officially wrap up tomorrow afternoon, forecasters have hinted we might not have seen the last of them this week.

High tides are sticking around, and more alerts could well follow.
