The starting point to transformation is yourself and your self lives in your body… not in your mind as you may like to believe.

Get out of your head and into your body.We all do it. We all get out of our heads. we do it when we fall in love and lose ourselves or pounding the footpaths in our Nikes until the edges of life disappear or sometimes we do it watching a sunset across an infinite horizon. Getting out of our heads is as natural as breathing – it’s part of being human. Most of us did it when we were little and playing dizzy dino’s, spinning round and round and round and round until we fell on the floor in a puffed out pile. We didn’t question it – it felt good – so we did it again. Feeling good, getting high, letting go – most of us do it at the weekend, usually with the helping assist of a variety of chemical intoxicants. The desire to get out of our heads is a longing for freedom. Most of us have a tendency to feel trapped by the monotony of day to day life, which with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 variables can be pretty much the same day in day out Monday to Friday. We are often trapped in our heads ‘Oh my God, that bloat around my middle… I better go on a diet / do some extra abs!”

“I wish I had that beautiful dress/bag/car/lampshade!” “I wish I hadn’t said that to so and so…what will they think of me?!” “I wish I HAD said that to so and so… they might like me more?!” “So and so hasn’t called me for the past 2 weeks… nobody loves me!” “I should have chosen the blue one not the pink one… I’m a failure!”

It goes on and on.By escaping the confines of our everyday “ordinary” reality, we can rise above the incessant chatter inside our heads and see reality from a higher perspective. Getting out of our heads is a doorway to something greater than ourselves. It is a glimpse of freedom, where for a moment (or longer if we are lucky!) time stands still, thoughts disappear and we transcend the “thinking self”. It is in this moment that we awaken to who we really are, to the glory of our Being and to the wonder of life as it is. In this moment, everything is perfect and we are free.

ECSTATIC DANCE: What even is that!?

Ecstatic Dance is a type of Free From Movement which uses movement, music and breathe to reach a state of ecstacy, liberation, freedom and joy! Dancing, shaking and shimmying in any way that feels good to you.You might already do this when an old school song comes on; you turn the volume up, dance around like no-one is watching, have a huge grin on your face and just rocking it out until your hearts content. This is ecstatic dance.Doing this surrounded by people might not sound fun right now – you would probably never want another human to witness this kind of dancing – but the energy and liberation of not giving two f***s if people are watching is like nothing else.Dancing is primal, it is archaic, humans have been dancing since the beginning of time, or at least since the discovery of fire, because what happens when we make a fire – we dance around it!If you need convincing of this natural urge and need to dance I have some Science for you:There was a study conducted on 120 babies to see what instincts we are innately born with. To test movement they played a variety of music including classical, harmonious and melodious voices – no movement from babies. Then they played something with a strong beating base – unanimously every single baby started to shake and move it! Fur babies are even born with an undeniable instinct to shake it.
