Funeral Details Announced For Much-Loved Ramsey Man Harry Gillings

Funeral arrangements have been announced for much-loved Ramsey man Harry Gillings, whose passing last month has left a huge mark on the northern community and the island’s football family.

Harry Luke Gillings passed away on October 24, aged 24.

In a notice shared by Corkhill & Callow Funeral Directors, he was described as the ‘loving son of Richard and Karen, adored brother to Katie and Lauren, and a much-loved uncle to Tegan, Ivy-Rae and Reign.’

It continued: ‘Harry will be missed but forever remembered by all his family and his many friends.’

His funeral service will take place at St Paul’s Church in Ramsey on Friday, November 21 at 2pm, followed by a private burial in Ballaugh.

The family has requested formal clothing and family flowers only, with donations in lieu going to Isle Listen and Ramsey Football Club via Corkhill & Callow.

Just two weeks ago, Ramsey AFC paid tribute to Harry, describing him as ‘one of a kind’ and ‘a true friend.’

Though he only played at junior level, Harry remained a regular presence at Ballacloan and was known for always being willing to lend a hand.

The club wrote: ‘Harry may not have played for Ramsey beyond junior level, but he was worth so much more than that to us.

‘He was admired and loved by everyone who knew him, a great friend, and one of a kind. We’ll miss you, mate. Forever an Albert.’

Messages of sympathy have poured in from across the island, with clubs and supporters alike remembering Harry as a friendly face who embodied the very best of the local football community.

And the lads at the club have raised more than £2,000 so far as they take on the Movember challenge in honour of Harry and for men’s mental health.
