‘One In A Million’ – Community Grieves Loss of Rob Kissack

The island community has been left heartbroken after 22-year-old Robert Kissack tragically died after being struck by a vehicle on Whitebridge Road in Onchan early on Sunday morning.

The incident happened at around 3.30am near the Manx Fun Barn.

Rob was taken to Noble’s Hospital but sadly couldn’t be saved.

In a statement, the police confirmed Rob’s identity and said: ‘Specially trained family liaison officers are supporting Robert’s family through this sad time.’

The road was closed for several hours while investigations took place, and the police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward by calling 631212.

A Life Well-loved

Rob was a familiar and much-loved face across the island, especially in the farming and fishing community.

Known for his kindness, humour, and infectious personality, it’s clear he left an impression on everyone who had the fortune to meet him.

Social media has been flooded with tributes, each one painting a picture of someone truly special.

Some described him as ‘one in a million’, while others said he was the ‘kindest man they’d ever met’.

One comment read: ‘He’d make you laugh when you were down, and you’d bounce off his energy. Just a pleasure to have known you, Rob.’

Another read: ‘A true gentleman who cared for all. Rest easy mate.’

A third comment, from life-long friend Kiara Watterson, said: ‘Life will never be the same without you. I love you more than you’ll ever know.’

But through all the heartfelt words, one thing’s clear, Rob was a proper character, someone who lit up a room when he walked in, and loved by all who knew him.
