Weather
Ice, Ice, Baby!
It may look a lovely morning, but it’s cold out there today!
New year in the Isle of Man has been ushered in with a wintry blast, with a 72-hour yellow weather warning for snow and ice in place until Monday morning.
The state of play
Police are warning about icy patches on roads this AM (Saturday) with multiple RTCs already reported.
Roads are passable, but the advice from the boys and girls in blue is to allow extra time to make your journey.
It’s particularly icy in the deep south apparently and that has also had an effect on flights, with the runways at Ronaldsway International shut for a second successive morning because of the wintry conditions.
Also a reminder, the Mountain Road remains shut until Monday at the earliest having closed on Thursday evening because of the wintry conditions.
Outlook
In will remain chilly through the day but generally dry with sunny spells.
There is still a risk of a few wintry showers catching the southwest corner of the island. Temperatures only rising to about 4°C, but feeling colder in the fresh to strong northerly wind.
Another cold night tonight, with temperatures falling close to ZERO in many places.
Wrap up warm and brace yourself for some wintry showers tomorrow!
