What is your name and age?
Blake Kelly, age 28.
Job title or role in the community?
Noise maker at Unrestricted Isle.
How did you start your career or role in the community?
It started as a way to keep myself busy and it snowballed from there.
Tell us about your business/industry, is there something interesting about it that most people wouldn’t expect?
Unrestricted Isle is a race team set on showing everything exactly as it is – the highs, the lows, the fun and frustrations. There’s no smoke or mirrors. Off track we offer technical support and services. Our team has a varied background covering many trades including 3 emergency services! Tell us about why you think you won as a Trailblazer?
A trailblazer carves a path for others to follow – and for me, it’s great to see others getting stuck in and having a go, whether it’s on two wheels, on the tools or behind/in front of a camera. Time doesn’t matter to me; if I’m awake, my ears are open. This has definitely benefited people in different time zones as the Unrestricted Isle inbox is open internationally.
Who are your role models?
My Grandad definitely had the most influence on why I do what I do. He taught me efficiency and tenacity very early – a great model to follow.
What are your plans for the future?
Currently the main goal is reaching and racing the Manx Grand Prix. I’d also like to set up something to help new riders work on their bikes.
What, for you, are the benefits of staying on or moving back to the island for young people under 30?
Unrestricted roads, a good driver awareness of bikes on the road and a lack of thieves. For two wheel folk, there is no better place to be in the world.
