7 Things Queen Camilla Should Definitely Do In The Isle of Man

It’s almost here. The day everyone’s been waiting for since it was officially announced last week (and a while before that – the worst kept secret since Barbary West Coast).

Queen Camilla will be touching down on Manx land tomorrow afternoon.

And while her schedule is understandably busy and concise (only visiting Douglas and Onchan), we can’t help but feel she could be spending her time on our great Isle experiencing the ‘best’ our little rock has to offer.

Therefore we’ve devised an alternative itinerary for Her Majesty, one that she’d arguably enjoy a lot more and definitely have better stories to report back to Buckingham Palace.

1. A visit to the Bee Gees statue

What’s a trip to the Isle of Man without giving a nod to the most famous Manx export? Queen Camilla could pay homage to the legendary Bee Gees by visiting their statue, striking a pose alongside the iconic figures immortalised in bronze. She might even place several cones atop the Bee Gee’s heads, a right of passage that’s become a beloved island tradition.

2. Visit the Roundhouse (by foot)

With access blocked to Braddan’s £10 million leisure centre, the Queen could embark on a royal adventure, embracing the unexpected challenge of a big stomp to play some pickleball.

3. Photography course at University College Isle of Man 

In lieu of recent events, it appears the royals might need some help in the Photoshop department. Queen Camilla might brush up on her digital skills by attending a photography class as the island’s UCM.

4. Steam train down south

All aboard! The steam railway has commenced their normal services and Camilla could embark on a scenic journey aboard the Isle of Man’s historic steam train, soaking in the breathtaking views of the countryside before a lap round Port Erin finishing at the Bay wall with a pint!

5. Say goodbye to Shoprite

As Shoprite stores make way for Tesco, the Queen could join the community in bidding adieu to an iconic cornerstone of Manx life while embracing the promise of new beginnings. A royal wave of approval for the transition!

6. Admire the Manxman

While she’s opted for a flight this time, Queen Camilla might still want to inspect the Steam Packet’s newest vessel Manxman. With her charm and influence perhaps she could even inspire the evening sailing to go on time tomorrow (or just set off at all).

7. Stay an extra night for Saddleoke 

After such an exciting day of royal adventures, Queen Camilla might even want to extend her visit for a day. We’re sure a room would be available at the Premier Inn for her to stay an extra day and squeeze in a visit to the island’s favourite thirsty Thursday scene. She could join locals in belting out beloved tunes, before being kicked out after one too many jager bombs.
