Five Peel Legends Princess Anne Should Be Seeing In Sunset City

Published

on

Tomorrow, HRH Princess Anne graces the Isle of Man, popping into Peel for a stroll through the Cathedral and the House of Manannan.

She’ll be meeting some fine folk from the Manx community, and, of course, a few of our politicians.

But Gef decided to put together a real list of Peel legends who should be getting the royal handshake. Your loss, Anne.

1. Starlight and Moonlight – The Dynamic Dolphin Duo

These mother-and-daughter dolphins are Peel’s pride, bobbing around the coast like local celebrities.

They’re a rare pair and have only ever been spotted together.

But let’s be honest, a royal visit might be too much for these aquatic introverts. Third wheel? No thanks.

2. Ian Mitchell – King of the Newsagents

Ian manages the best newsagents on Michael Street and is the unofficial gatekeeper of all things Peel.

Just one heads-up for Princess Anne: don’t expect him to get your name right.

But rest assured, you’ll leave with a Manx Independent, a bag of sweets, and a story to tell.

3. Trevor Cowin – The Petition Powerhouse

If anyone’s got a burning question for royalty, it’s Trevor Cowin.

Tynwald Day petitioner extraordinaire and Freedom of Information legend, he could save some paperwork and ask her straight up how much this trip’s costing the Manx taxpayer.

And who knows, maybe this will be his big break into Manx politics?

4. Mike Wade – Photographer, Pizza-Maker, Peel Legend

Mike’s worn many hats: former Media Isle of Man photographer, Peel Commissioner, and now, pizza-maker supreme at Black Dog Oven.

He’s currently in Cuba, raising money for Isle of Play on an epic cycle, but let’s be real – his Peel credentials are so strong, he deserves a spot on this list even from 4,348 miles away.

5. Jess Kneen – Peel’s Number One Cheerleader

No one loves Peel more than Jess Kneen.

She’s our very own Media Isle of Man star and Peel legend through and through.

If there’s one person who can give Princess Anne the real scoop on Peel, it’s Jess.

Who needs a guidebook when you’ve got Kneen?

So, Anne, next time you’re in town (not a city – sorry Gobbags), give these legends a shout.

They might not be on the official list, but they’re the true heartbeat of Peel.

Surely sitting with these five for a pint, putting the world to rights would be one hell of an evening in the boozer.

Have we missed anyone? Let us know!
