Aw Klaus. Stumbling across this one a couple years ago was like thinking you’ve got all the presents out of your stocking then finding one last one hiding right down in the depths that turns out to be the best of the lot. This film is a joy. If you haven’t seen it, this would probably be the one at the top of my recommendations. I’m not saying it’s life-changing. Just that your life will be substantially better having watched it.

The story follows Jesper, a spoiled, rich guy who ends up being made the new postman in Smeerensberg – a frozen and forgotten town at the backend of nowhere. During his time there he meets reclusive toy maker Klaus. The music is gorgeous, the animation has a delightful vibe of the old and the new merging seamlessly, and it is FUNNY. On that note, I have zero quips about this one. It’s just great. For all ages. Watch it. FOR GOD’S SAKE WATCH IT. YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT I’M CAPABLE OF IF YOU DON’T.
