The Manx Electric Railway has received four nominations for the prestigious British Trams Online “Tram of the Year” awards.

The railway’s four nominations come in three categories, Tram of the Year, Tramway of the Year and Event of the Year.
Trailers 19 and 26 are in the running for Tram of the Year, with both returning to service earlier this year after long restoration projects.
The MER is up for Tramway of the Year after a ‘massive increase in passenger numbers as they celebrated 130 years of operation’. (ERM… yeah?)
Finally, the MER is nominated for Event of the Year for its 130th anniversary.
The notational explains it as: ‘An extended event with trams returning to service, special tours and a cavalcade at Laxey including not only the Manx Electric Railway but the Snaefell Mountain Railway as well.’
