Flights Suspended After Drone Reports

Flights in and out of Ronaldsway were suspended earlier after two reports of drones being used in the area.

The airport said the reports came from a light aircraft as it made an approach to the airport, the drones were said to be out over the sea.

A spokesperson said: ‘Isle of Man Airport ATC and Airfield Operations are currently working with police after a report of two drones were made by a light aircraft. The drones were spotted over the sea as the aircraft made an approach to runway 26.

‘Arrivals and departures have been temporarily suspended as a precaution. Flying drones within 5km of the airport without permission is against the law and can pose a serious danger to aircraft.’

The airport reopened shortly after 12pm.
