Subway Is Back (And Ramsey’s Getting The First Bite!)

Dust off your loyalty cards and start dreaming about foot-longs again, because Subway is making a comeback to the island, and Ramsey’s getting the first whiff of toasted Italian Herbs and Cheese.

The beloved sandwich chain, last seen vanishing from Peel and Port Erin, is popping back up in the north.

Spar on Parliament Street broke the news Monday night on Facebook, confirming it’ll be adding a shiny new Subway counter ‘in the next couple of months.’

This marks the first sub-shaped sign of life since Tesco gobbled up Shoprite in 2023 and closed the previous outlets.

But now, Ramsey’s Spar is stepping up to the plate (or sandwich wrapper) to bring us back our bread, meat, cheese, and ‘a little bit of everything’ from the salad bar. At least that’s what Gef ordered.

For those who’ve forgotten the Subway way of life, here’s a refresher: you pick your bread, load it up with fillings (meats, veggies, maybe regret), drizzle some sauce on top, and then say yes to cookies because life is short.

Locals have been quick to celebrate online, with several people reportedly already queuing at the toaster in anticipation.

Rumours that Parliament Street will soon smell exclusively of sweet onion sauce remain unconfirmed, but highly likely.

Others are worried about its impact on the local food scene, and concerns about Manx businesses suffering are never going to go away.

No official opening date just yet, just the promise of subs ‘soon’.

Until then, we suggest keeping a bottle of chipotle southwest sauce nearby to tide you over.
