A Grate Pairing: Creamery and Okell’s Unite for Festive Cheese

Published

Isle of Man Creamery has officially kicked off the festive snacking season by shouting “IT’S HERE!!!!”

And no, it’s not Christmas, but something arguably just as exciting.

Their brand new limited-edition Mature Cheddar with Okell’s Smoked Porter.

The Creamery unveiled the wax-sealed truckle that blends their award-winning Mature Cheddar with Okell’s Smoked Porter last week, the beer brewed for Okell’s 175th anniversary and now being lovingly poured straight into dairy for the greater good of the island.

It says the new cheese is now available to add to doorstep delivery orders through the app, by calling 632000 or emailing customerservices@isleofmancreamery.com.

And for those who prefer to obtain their cheese the traditional way (i.e. sprinting into a shop in a mild panic), it’ll be appearing in Robinson’s Fresh Foods, EVF, Spar stores and loads of independent shops by the end of the week.

Okell’s Smoked Porter brings a deep malty character with a gentle hint of smoke, while the Creamery’s Mature Cheddar keeps things rich, creamy and properly Manx.

A spokesperson for the Creamery previously said the pairing creates ‘a uniquely Manx flavour’ that celebrates the craftsmanship of two of the island’s most renowned producers.

Findlay Macleod, managing director of Isle of Man Creamery, said: ‘We love bringing limited edition cheeses to our customers and Okell’s anniversary year has given us the perfect opportunity to partner with one of the longest established and respected producers in the island.’

Ollie Neale from Okell’s added: ‘This collaboration is all about craftsmanship and heritage… delivering a festive treat that’s distinctly Manx.’

The Creamery is already asking customers to let them know what they think, which, based on past experience, will mostly be variations of ‘please make this permanent’ and ‘I’ve eaten half a truckle and I regret nothing.’
