Did You Bump Into a Load of Danish People Earlier This Week? Well, Here’s Why…

If you found yourself wondering why the streets of Peel and Castletown suddenly felt very Scandinavian on Tuesday, wonder no more.

A whopping 100 staff from Danish airline AirSeven touched down at Ronaldsway, swapping the twinkling lights of Copenhagen for a 24-hour Manx Christmas extravaganza.

The visit, coordinated by local specialists Isle of Man DMC (a division of Duke Travel), was designed to prove that ‘the island is a premier destination for international corporate incentives and events’.

Flying in direct from Roskilde Airport on one of the airline’s own Boeing 737s, the team were whisked around the island like VIPs.

Their whirlwind schedule included a guided sightseeing tour, a cheeky harbour-side pint at The Creek in Peel, and a pie and mash lunch overlooking the TT Mountain Course at the Victory Café.

After checking in at the Comis Hotel for a bit of spa R&R, the party moved to the Royal Hall at the Villa Marina for an exclusive Christmas bash, leaving locals blinking at how many Danish staff can fit into one room in a single evening.

Richard Howarth, General Manager of Duke Travel and Isle of Man DMC, was full of festive cheer: ‘Showing off our beautiful island is what we love to do.

‘Hosting 100 staff over 24 hours demonstrates the island’s capability for corporate groups and bespoke programmes, and we are proud to have coordinated a smooth visit for an international organisation of this size.’

AirSeven’s Michael Jensen added his own seal of approval: ‘5 out of 5 for the Duke Travel team, we are very pleased with how the trip has been put together and would be very interested in coming back again one day.’

Behind the scenes, a small army of local suppliers, tour guides, and Bus Vannin drivers ensured the Danes didn’t end up lost on the mountain or stuck in a roundabout (or roundel!!)
