‘Bigotry Isn’t Cool’

A venue in Douglas has criticised vandals after signs in its toilets were deliberately damaged.

The Original Quids Inn shared images of the vandalised signage on social media and condemned the incident, describing the act as ‘bigotry’.

The signs encouraged customers to use whichever bathroom they felt most comfortable in and informed patrons that staff were available to support anyone feeling uncomfortable or unsafe.

In a post online, the pub said: ‘We don’t do these posts normally. Pubs get a little bit of vandalism very often.

‘But when it’s 2026 and you walk through a pub’s toilets and destroy the toilet signage, which is just trying to support people, you’ve got to ask yourself what is wrong with you?’

The venue said the damage appeared to target the supportive message displayed on the signs.

Owner Andy Saunders added: ‘Our toilets damaged by some person who doesn’t like the fact that if you need some support our staff will be there for you.

Photographs shared by the pub showed the signs had been scratched and defaced.

The social media post has prompted support from customers and members of the wider isleand public, with many praising the venue for promoting an inclusive environment.
