Fancy a Fireside Chat With a Successful Entrepreneur?

Startup Grind invites budding innovators to first on-island event of 2024

Are you an Isle of Man-based entrepreneur, business owner, investor, aspiring innovator, a networking enthusiast seeking connections with local founders, enterprising student, or someone who regularly wears Steve Jobs-esque sport trainers and jeans to work? If you answered ‘Yes, I sure do love those trainers, comfortable feet lead to greater innovative thinking’ then please move onto the next question: Do you like fireside chats? Assuming you answered ‘why yes, I love fireside chats’ because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t, then I have something I think you’ll like.

The Isle of Man chapter of the entrepreneur network ‘Startup Grind‘ is hosting its first event this month. If you haven’t heard of Startup Grind, it’s a movement helping entrepreneurs tackle the challenges of starting a new company. They do this by hosting gatherings where founders and experts from every industry come together to share their advice and inspirations for early entrepreneurs.

The Isle of Man event is taking place on Tuesday, 12 March at the Santander Work Cafe and features a fireside chat (as previously mentioned) with leading tech entrepreneur and recent Media Isle of Man Awards for Excellence Winner Mike Bromwich, CEO and Founder of Stacuity. I assume there will also be an acoustic guitar at some point to go with the fireside ambience.

There’s a theme to the gathering, so make sure you dress up appropriately to match it. The theme is “Pioneering Growth with Purpose – Strategies for Scalable and Sustainable Success”… I don’t know how you dress for that. Maybe as a wealthy person who’s being sustainably successful with a pound symbol necklace. Or as a strategy. Just a piece of paper with writing on it.

The special guest Mike Bromwich – you know Mike – is bringing more than three decades of experience in the tech and entrepreneur space to the chat. He was raised and educated on the island and, I don’t mean to brag, he’s considered a stalwart in the data, connectivity and mobile industries. Which is huge because WHO DOESN’T USE A MOBILE? Inmates and dead people. That’s it. The fireside chat (previously mentioned) with Mike will be interactive and include a Q&A session where he’ll share his words of wisdom on starting businesses, building teams, raising investments, and fostering innovation all via acoustic guitar.

‘Startup Grind is the world’s largest community of entrepreneurs, and its year-round calendar of live events are programmed to inspire, educate and connect individuals passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation. The event at Santander Work Café on 12 March, featuring Stacuity’s Mike Bromwich, is an exciting way for us to launch 2024 for the Isle of Man Chapter. It will also be an opportunity to announce recent developments for the local network and engage with our strategic partners, including our new media partner, Media Isle of Man’.

I’ve just been told its unlikely there’ll be an acoustic guitar or guitar of any nature during the event despite the fireside chat (previously mentioned). I’m sorry to disappoint but there’ll be free nibbles and drinks from the Bakehouse team after paying for a ticket.
