Jewellers Closes This Weekend
G H Corlett the jewellers will be closing its Castle Street shop after 188 years in business.
An almost 200 hundred year old business will close its doors this weekend, but there is still time to get a special present for Christmas.
G H Corlett the jewellers will be closing its Castle Street shop after 188 years in business.
Established in 1835, G H Corlett is a family business which has sold jewellery, watches, clocks and fine goods for seven generations, as well as being known for its trophy and engraving services.
While the trophy engraving business will continue, the jewellers will close for the final time on Saturday.
Until then, the business is having a 50% sale on stock.
In a post one Facebook, the company said: ‘Hey there, lovely people! Just a quick reminder to let you know that this Saturday marks the end of an era for us. We’re closing our doors for good.
‘But fear not! If you entrusted us with your watch batteries, trophies, or jewellery repairs, swing by this week to collect them. We’ve tried reaching out to everyone but might’ve missed a few. On the bright side, we still have limited stock for those last-minute Christmas bargains! Everything’s a whopping 50% off! Help us clear the shelves! See you soon!’
Having opened in Castletown in 1835, the business pre-dates Douglas being the island’s capital.
