DEFA Minister Clare Barber has congratulated Emily
A Ballasalla based food producer is ‘on top of the world’ after being awarded a silver at the Quality Food Awards, bettering one of Aldi’s offerings along the way.
PopCornaa (love that name) was started by Emily Tse and operates out of Balthane Industrial Estate.
Emily entered her Mango Caramel Gourmet Popcorn for the prestigious industry awards and was shortlisted as a finalist in the Chocolate and Confectionary section, pitting her Manx creation against Euro Shopper and two of Aldi’s ranges.
PopCornaa’s silver award was announced at the virtual ceremony earlier today.
Emily said: ‘I am truly honoured and nothing short of being “on top of the world!’ with this incredible award. The team at PopCornaa HQ are super grateful for the recognition we have received for our ongoing work and commitment to innovation in the confectionery field.
‘I never expected to reach this far in the competition when first entering my product into the awards in July this year! The aim was to gain quality feedback from top, leading industry experts in the Food and Drink arena to further develop our concept and range of products.
‘I hope this mark of achievement for a small start up that was conceived during the pandemic will inspire others to follow their passion. Hard work truly does pay off to those that believe……’
While we’re buzzing for Emily, DEFA Minister Clare Barber also congratulated Emily, saying her award was ‘a testament to the extraordinary flavours and craftsmanship found right here in our community’.
‘This achievement not only recognises her dedication, but also amplifies her talents to a broader audience. This fantastic achievement is a reminder of the exceptional quality of food and drink being produced on the island.
